Description
Chickweed Organic Cream
Organic Chickweed Cream is formulated using an infusion of chickweed herb combined with nourishing shea butter and apricot kernel oil. Chickweed has a long history of traditional use in herbal skin care and is particularly valued for its cooling and soothing nature.
The cream is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F and contains unsaponifiable fats that help support the skin’s moisture barrier. These properties contribute to maintaining the integrity of the epidermis and supporting overall skin comfort.
Chickweed cream is often chosen as part of a gentle skin-care routine for dry, sensitive or easily irritated skin and can be used alone or alongside Calendula Cream as part of a complementary botanical approach.

Traditional Skin Care Use
In traditional herbal practice, chickweed has been associated with calming overheated or irritated skin. Its demulcent (soothing) and refrigerant (cooling) qualities made it a popular plant for external preparations used to comfort the skin.
Chickweed has historically been used in poultices, juices and ointments prepared for topical application, particularly where the skin felt tight, dry or uncomfortable.
History
Chickweed (Stellaria media) has a long history of use in European folk medicine. The common name is thought to originate from its traditional use as bird feed, though historical records show it was also widely used by people.
During the Middle Ages, country folk used chickweed juice as a traditional food source, valued for its vitamin content. Nicholas Culpeper described chickweed as a “fine soft pleasing herb”, traditionally associated with soothing swellings, redness and discomfort when applied externally.
Modern formulations replace historical fats with more refined botanical bases such as shea butter and plant oils while maintaining the traditional intention of gentle skin care.
Scientific Interest
Modern interest in chickweed has focused on its soothing, moisturising and skin-conditioning properties. Its traditional demulcent action aligns with contemporary cosmetic approaches aimed at supporting skin comfort and hydration.
Chickweed continues to be included in botanical skincare preparations intended for gentle, everyday use.
